Correspondent Banking and Settlements
- First, establishing and maintaining relations with financial institutions both in the Russian Federation and abroad and
- second, providing the bank customers with the information of the existing possibilities of cross-border payments* execution and some future options.
Unlike document-associated payments, i.e. documents against payment and letters of credit, which require the seller to meet certain conditions, clean payment is not bound up with any conditions. Payments are best made via SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications), which is an international computer network for payments and notifications. SWIFT has been in existence since 1977. About 7700 banks and institutions worldwide are members of this system. PSCB adopted SWIFT software for payments execution in 2004 and has gained sufficient experience in this field.
